Yesterday was Greg's birthday. Greg has been a good friend for several years now, but lately I have not seen so much of him. I have been busy with my girlfriend and my new found attention to school. He has been busy with his comps, thesis proposal, and most recently, his thesis as well as his application to immigrate to Canada.

To mark his birthday, we went on a long walk, of the sort we used to do, to Chinatown where I bought him a Vietnamese lunch. The food wasn't that great, but it was nice to catch up with Greg as we had not talked in some time. After lunch we took a round about way home looking at the South East False Creek area that is slated for redevelopment. Later, I met up with him again, along with Tristan and Milan and we went for a few drinks with a long walk in between. It was a pleasant evening, and a good way of marking Greg's birthday.

Recently, I got my final marks back. Seeing them was mostly a relief, three A-, with one of them being an 84 on my honours thesis. The big surprise was the 83 in math, a class in which I was prepared for a B, but absolutely delighted to be in the A range. This brings my average this year to a satisfying 84.6, and my overall average, not including exchange, back up to 81.3. This leaves me to wonder what my grades, and my grad school opportunities, would have been if I hadn't had those two bad years between foundations and Singapore. In some ways I am dissapointed that this is the end of my undergraduate transcript. That I have no further opportunities to prove myself to graduate school admissions commitees. On the other hand, it is nice to be done, and have a record I am proud to stand by.

For now, I am back to being bored and 'unemployed in summer time, only just turned 22, it'll be ok....'
